Gucci is throwing an all-star fundraiser on Feb. 6 for Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi. GUCCI’s “A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF” will take place in heated tents on the north lawn of the United Nations, with special co-hosts Sarah Jessica Parker and Salma Hayek scheduled to attend along with Madonna.

Academy Awards organizers insisted Tuesday their show will go on, though some say the Oscar broadcast could evaporate after the writers strike shut down the Golden Globes ceremony.

Without special agreements with the Writers Guild of America, awards planners cannot hire union members to work on their shows, and such major telecasts would be the target of pickets. Screw the Oscars…..movies were crap last year.

With the Screen Actors Guild in lockstep with writers, nominees and other celebrities would have stayed away from Sunday’s Globes. The same prospect now hangs over the Oscars. Don’t cross the lines, stay strong my brothers. Support the writers! These people would be nothing without the people that write for them to be funny, dramatic, or loved by the public. A concert marking the 40th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s famous concert at Folsom State Prison has been scrapped, with the prison and the promoter blaming each other for the cancellation.Prison officials said that the show was called off because of security concerns and problems involving filming rights and media access. The show had been scheduled for Sunday (January 13) in the same prison cafeteria where Cash gave his famed performance for inmates on January 13, 1968.
